Two issues arise:
1) I haven't seen the wiring diagram, but wiring switches in parallel 
might result in the possibility of a short circuit.  There are ways to 
do multiple reversing switches that don't do this.
2) Maybe they're worried about remote control devices that can injure or 
kill, so they discourage their use.  The factory version might have 
interlocks, etc. to make it safer.
