Can anyone tell me why the major supply houses (Digi-Key, Mouser or
Amphenol) don't supply anything other than crimped Type N connectors? It
seems to me as if crimped connectors have become the standard since I
couldn't find any crimped PL-259 connectors except from some amateur supply
houses. Are they trying to tell me that crimped Type N is the only way to
go? Labor costs are too high? I could agree with that technical policy
since crimped Type N's are technically better and the crimped scheme is so
much easier than soldered 259's but so much of my equipment still has
SO-259s. I still solder the center pin; however, I notice that the
expensive heliax connectors are all mechanical connections. Ken K5RG
