I think when people say they need a 9/16" rope for 200 lb loads, something
seems
wrong.

If you need to handle the rope, it might be cheaper to buy a rope ascender (or
two) to provide grip/pull on the rope, and use a narrower rope.

Has anyone used this CWC polyester rope (double braided, made in china)
google "CWC 347040"
available a couple of places.

CWC 347040 $150 for 3/8" x 600'

So that would be my thought: use the minimal diameter for the load, the right
material/construction for the stretch requirements and abrasion resistance, and
solve the gripping problem with something else (if that's what the diameter of
1/2" or 9/16" comes from)
braided would be nicer than a laid rope.
