The schematic shows a six wire cable running between the rotor and the
controller, but only five are used. Two wires are connected to the DC motor.
They go to pins 4 and 5. Measured at the rotor, they read 8.75 ohms. The
other three wires go to a 500 ohm pot that senses the position of the rotor.
Pin 1 is the high end of the pot, pin 2 is the tap, and pin 3 is the cold end
of the pot, and is connected to the frame of the rotor. There is no
connection to pin 6 at the rotor.
Pin numbers in the connector at the controller start with the notch and go
along the long side of the connector (that is, pins 1, 2, and 3 are on the
same side). Pin 4 is next to pin 1, pin 5 is next to pin 2.
When measuring these wires, you'll need to account for the additional
resistance of the wire between the controller and the rotor.
