Patrick,
I used a hammer drill to install ground rods at my old QTH in the southern
Ohio hills. It allowed me to get the rod about another foot down than I was
able to with a sledge hammer. I expect that we hit the rock ledge that is
common in that area. Evidently i got that rod and the others into the rock
well. I did notice a reduction in noise upon connection of the new rod. My
friend who works for the local electric utility checked out the ground an
said it was a much better ground resistance on his meter (ground tester).
than it was before. Go for it!
