I knew an old commercial farm welder. His shop was an old barn with dirt floors, this is why this worked. He used water coming out of a quarter inch copper line. Lots of water. He just wanted to keep the bit cool and he oiled the bits after use. (Large bits well over an inch) I have never done this and have never seen it elsewhere, so.... your mileage may vary.
