The thimble installation goes much easier if you twist the legs away from
each other, one left, the other right instead of prying them open. A couple of
vise grip pliers makes this quick and easy and the galvanizing is not damaged.

Honestly, I prefer building Jaw & Jaw whenever possible. Opening and
stretching thimbles to make them fit through Eyes is a pain in the ass, and
ruins the galvanize. If you find yourself having to stretch thimbles, make
sure you re-coat them with cold galv.
The only issues you will run into will be the stretching of the thimbles and
depending on the anchors, you might need some shackles.

It all depends on how your anchor points are set up. If you use an eyebolt
through an elevated post, then you would use parallel equalizer plates and
turnbuckles with eyes on both ends. If you have single equalizer plates
then you use the other style turnbuckle.
