If you are only going 6" (give or take) then take a piece of that thin
drain pipe, say about a 1/2" to inch long. Arrange the wires around it
with equal spacing. You can hot glue, wrap tape around it, or use use
epoxy. The only draw back to this type of arrangement is the wires have
to be properly arrange as they have no leeway for movement. Another
possibility is a piece of paraffin soaked hardwood bout 1/4 thick.
