Just to add a bit of interest in something I observed many years ago and
have modeled for future use at home.

When I lived in Denver in the 70's a fellow had a tower with a quad stack of
loops on each leg for 6,2 and 432 as well as a pair stacked for 10 that he
used as monitor antennas and for local BS.

If you have EZNEC build some and look at them starting at say 1 wave high
and you will be impressed.

My future plans will mimic the fellow in Denver but the tower will be a
crank up so they will have to be on each section or at the top on a mast.

BTW, the Moxon Rectangle is a super easy antenna to make, tune and install.
Excellent pattern and a direct 50 ohm feed make it a great beginners
project.

If you want to build one, give me the info on the material you have on hand
to build it with and I will model it (assuming you don't already have a
modeling program) and give you the exact measurements and send you the info,
bandwidth, pattern, etc for your finished project. Short of building it and
sending it to you I don't think you can get a better offer than that. :>)

Either way, get it built, bought, or borrowed and get on 6 meters. It's a
weirdly fascinating band that will keep your interest even when the other
bands leave you praying for sunspots.

I know most of the big multi ops run omni antennas on 6 such as the M2 loop
or the KU4AB loop but then switch to their beam (or beams) when you call.
The beam is several S points higher than the loop.

I used the old squalo loop years ago and its just a single loop with zero
gain.

Inquiring minds want to know how the M2 or KU4AB loop rate so high (look at
the eHam reviews)?

is it that such an antenna is better than no antenna (or loading up my 40
meter beam)?
