I think Tom has the answer on feeding the EDZ - open wire/tuner.
Before I got the tower up at this qth I used a pair of 40 meter EDZ's
running in opposite directions for a six band antenna system..
The pattern was typical of the EDZ on 40 while the higher one went from 20
through 10 the more the clover leaf hugged the wire, resulting in maximum
signal almost off the ends of the wire.
On 80 the pattern was very similar to a dipole.
Mine were supported by 70 foot tulip poplars. On top band I twisted the
feeders together and fed it through an LC network against a couple of
elevated radials. It was essentially a T.
With the various patterns on different bands and the two antennas at right
angles to each other, coverage was quite good.
While the pair were very effective, the downfall was the need to adjust the
tuner when going from band to band as Tim mentioned. Wire antennas can be
very competitive.
Have fun!
