And if he gives you the operating parameters of the station, then you can
plug them into the web-based RF exposure calculator (U of TX?) and see how
the numbers compare with the FCC's exposure rules. That will take care of
safety -- the FCC numbers are extremely conservative, particularly given
that no deleterious effects from incidental exposure have been established
(I'm not talking about looking down a radar waveguide!).
As for intermod, etc., as Steve says, take some stuff up there and listen.
