Two or three layers of Scotch 33+ or 88 electrical tape.
(33 is 7 mils thick and 88 is 8.5 mils) It's the best
on the market; we all shouldn't use anything else. One
can also use Scotch Linerless Rubber Splicing 130C tape
to cover over that for a really weatherproof covering.
