That is exactly what we did with my Rohn 45 and 20 ft mast. To
pull up the mast from the bottom we used some BIG washers (that I
seem to recall were delivered with the tower and hardware, but I
don't remember what they were supposed to be used for, if anything)
with the rope thru the hole of a few of them stacked, then tied.
