Ok, I have had it. Here is how to trim coax for installing a PL-259: Use sharp knife and cut around the outer plastic while not knicking the braid. Tin braid around the lower part of the exposed braid. Use a flush cutting dikes (wire cutters) to trim the braid back to level where plug holes will line up. Use same sharp knife to trim off inner plastic. Tin center conductor lightly.
