I have always wondered what the effect on swr are on both grounding the
shields of coax at place(s) other than at each end of the coax and on
tying the shields of coax together somewhere along to coax run instead of
just at the end where all are connected t to the rig.
In my haphazard tests over the years, my swr has changed when I had a
bulkhead made of metal and all shields were tied together there more or
less admid-stream on the run of coax lines. Further, I wonder about the
effects of hooking the shields of my beam runs to the shields of my
dipoles-- am I not driving at least half of my dipoles whevever I am
directing rf to the beam, especially at any freq. except dead resonance???
So, in my own shack, my bulkhead is made of insulating material and the
coax shields are not grounded at the bulkhead/window entry point. What's
say ye all??? de K4VUD
