We use both Create and HyGain rotors....I like the Create in that it is a
worm drive rotor - ALL ROTORS SHOULD BE WORM DRIVE, anyone gotten any iinfo
from the Italian guy who posted to this web page about a month ago....his
rotors are all worm drive, I am anxious to see what he offers. While
mechanically superior in design, when you use a worm gear drive you do not
need a brake mechanism as worms cannot be be driven by the gears, only the
gears can be driven by the worms....
the drawback to the Create is servicability, and access to parts....you have
to deal with EDCO, and only EDCO out of VA....if they don't have the part,
QRZ JA? I have asked the guys who do rotor repair work if they would do work
on the Creats but it is a hassle for them to get the parts, etc.....EDCO has
successfully gotten a latch on the Create business.
The HyGain rotors on the other hand not only offer you service by HyGain but
there are two very reputable guys who do this work as well....The Rotor
Doctor and Norm's....both of these guys web sites can be accessed from the
excellent PVRC web page.....its a good way to spend a sleepness night!
I have not used Norm's, but have had excellent results with the Rotor Dr....I
especially like the quick disconnect plug he uses on the bottom of the
rotors....it makes swapping out or removing the rotor a breeze....not that I
have to contend with frozen finger syndrome in this climate, but to be able
to electrically disconnect the rotor in an instant versus all those screws on
that terminal strip that is already rusted, etc. etc. etc.!
If servicability is important I would say go HyGain, if you are a mechanical
engineer who is a purist, go Create.....which byu the way works really slick,
too.....
