I have received a few inquiries about sources for
the Dacron "Stable Braid" rope I recommended
in my note on tower rigging.
The original manufacturer, Sampson, has been bought
out by American Rope company and now markets
the rope under the name "2 in 1 Stable Braid".
It is available in 100ft, 100m, and 600ft lengths.
I priced three sizes in 600ft lengths. I have historically
used the 3/8 inch size and it is more than adequate
for almost anything a ham would want to do.
Size Approx Strength Min. Strength Price/600ft
3/8 5600 lbs 4760 lbs $211.35
7/16 7700 lbs 6545 lbs $255.85
1/2 10400 lbs 8840 lbs $328.60
One source is Denver Wire Rope and Supply--ask for Dan
303-377-5166 They ship and take Visa/MC/AX cards.
The rope is probably available in any major city from
local suppliers--just look under Rope in the Yellow Pages.
