i have and still do use a rope called "truckers rope" 1/2"/5/8"
600' spool sells for approc $45. its test strenght is better than
3000lbs and its relatively impervious to water and sun deteriation.
i can tell u wrer to get it in the pdx area if needed and can be ordered
over the phone with a CC. w7gg
