Thanks for the info. That explains why my center 
conductors were turning black.

I have just pulled apart a 12 months old connection and 
found that the silver plating, despite the Noalox on the 
braid, was shiny and clean, just like the day it was 
installed. It is a pain to plate the center conductor, but 
seems to be worth it.
