Some newer rigs like the Icom !C-7410 do not have a separate RX antenna
input. One reason was probably that the close proximity of a TX
antenna would often take out front ends. I currently use the DXE RTR-1
to do the switching for me. There are other units on the markets but
the DXE has been well engineered to protect front ends even with cockpit
errors. I have also used the MFJ-1026 noise cancelling box which has RF
sensing and hard drive TX/RX capabilities. The RX antenna bank just
hooks up to the noise antenna port and with front panel controls you can
have either antenna, or have both, and even phase them for noise
cancellation as you may require.
