Yes, DX activity on 160 meters during the CQWW CW was the best I have ever
heard it (36 years on 160).
A few data points from 3 multi multi stations in the USA. K3LR worked 103
DXCC multipliers and W3LPL, KC1XX each worked 98. All three stations have
good operators, good equipment and good topband antennas - very similar.
Comparing the multiplier lists shows that K3LR only missed D4 and UA9 which
both LPL and XX worked. LR worked every other country that XX and LPL did -
except these two (I heard both of these multipliers but could not complete
QSOs). LR worked 40, EY, KH2 and SU that LPL and XX did not. So between the
3 stations - 105 multipliers were available. All 3 MM stations did not work
CE, CM, GU, HP, J3, TG, VP5, YS or YV - which are generally active on
topband for CQWW CW. I estimate that over 110 countries would have been
possible to work from the USA.
Excellent DX activity from Europe during 2010 CQWW DX CW is noted by these
EU QSO totals:
W3LPL 458
KC1XX 397
K3LR 362
K3LR worked five JA stations - on 160 - which is about average. W3LPL and
KC1XX each worked one.

during the CQWW CW Test in Nov. If I'm not mistaken, two stations worked
160M DXCC in that 24-hour period. I assure you that although there are

The far-off stations have really been conspicuous in their absence on
Topband of late---for days, actually. And those that are there, even the
perennial stalwarts, are way down in signal strength...
To-day both the "A" & "K" indices on WWV were at zero, and there have been
no spots on the face of Ol Sol for days now, which (I think!) is a portend,
generally, of some good conditions on 160-meters...but the reality is
otherwise.
Can it really be time to undust the ol' stamp collection here...?! Hi Hi
