It may be true that a "classic" Bobtail is fed at the bottom, but that
doesn't mean feeding it at the top won't work. If you want to call it
some other name when fed at the top, have at it. If you take the Robert
Tail you were referring to and invert it, you have a Bobtail fed at the
top. It doesn't stop working.
I didn't give the implementation required for this because it wasn't
relative to the original question which was a comparison between a full
size Bobtail and a short linearly loaded one. Obviously the physical
implementation for the top fed Bobtail for 160 is more difficult. K2AV
pointed out that just a choke at the feedpoint doesn't keep the feedline
from affecting the antenna, and that is very true. The same can be said
of any other conductors that happen to be in the vicinity of the
antenna. An implementation was beyond the scope of the original
question so that was not included.
