Lars, Run the simulation with other types of grounds. I think you are right so
far.
When you run it with salt water you will see the vertical angle right down next
to the horizon, but with real ground you really lose a lot at those low angles.
Then the inv vee doesn't look so bad. I have an inv vee here and an inv L as
well, and that inv vee is not a bad antenna at all.
