Some of you might be interested in this old 1948 manual on testing ground 
resistance. It is geared toward actual electrical ground, but will give you a 
good idea of how to measure your actual soil resistance. Very interesting to 
beverage and lightning strike area stations and the most complete descriptions 
I've seen.

The DjVU file is less than a meg long and in PDF it is over 10 megs.
