Likewise Jarda when I heard that Dietmar DL3DXX is going to Vanuatu I
was very optimistic as Dietmar "gave" me so far 7 new ones on Topband:
ZL7DK,P29DXX,S21XX,VK9CR,VK9XY,VK9LM and ST0RY.
I erected two Beverages (YJ is 50 deg from here) ..one 200m about 60 deg
and another one 300m about 40 deg...both were phased by MFJ 1025.
On 80m since beggining YJ0ADX was very strong even peaking S 8 on S meter
but for first days I was not able to hear even one "ping" on 160m.
I'm sure Dietmar was trying at least a few times to be active during our SS but
simply there was not opening between Central Europe and Vanuatu at that time.
I almost resigned when on 1st March I heard very clearly his CQ ..but it lasted
just about 2 minutes...fortunatelly enough... it was about 30 minutes before
their SR.
The next time (and only) when I heard them it was on 4th March when opening was
much longer
just after our SS and lasted about 30 minutes.
I know they worked quite a lot Scandinavians (mainly OH's) around sunset in
Central Europe
so I'm afraid there was just a problem with opening to countries like OK,OM,DL
and farther West.
So,THANKS a lot Dietmar for you patience and knowledge of 160m...
