I found that my balloon built static and caused noise in the receiver unless I had about 50 feet of line between the top of the vertical and the balloon. I used insulated wire to minimize charging. It did not seem to be a problem after I did these two things. (I used a 1/4 wave with the base at the top of my 140 foot tower and with 2 1/4 WL radials going in opposite directions.)
