I read this message and the previous one with interest.
Using your information I have come up with why I don't seem to get the RX
bang that I should (I want?) from my receiving antennas.
Clearly there is a misshapen magnetic field just under my house, land and my
neighbors' land that is "re-orienting" those precious DX waves as they
arrive. Somewhere near the periphery of my QTH those DX waves are going
directly down into the earth and virtually nothing remains to be captured by
the RX antennas. It must have something to do with the Super volcano
explosion that happened in Idaho 660,000 years ago to form Yellowstone Park.
Since the event the "park" has drifted on the Tectonic plate to the
northeast across the border to Wyoming. Since the drift is about 2.5 cm/year
the next super volcano explosion will probably be where Billings, MT is now.
DX'ers -- don't wait, get your Montana QSO now!
Well, it is disappointing, but at least now I know why here in Idaho there
is a DX worm hole that is doing away with my DX.
