After several weeks of work in the cold, I finally finished up my vertical
parasitic transmitting array this week. It has 3 elements in each of four
directions, NE SE SW NW, plus an extra director toward Europe. It's a variation
of the K3LR array described in ON4UN's third edition book, Low Band Antennas.
I'll have some more details and photos on my web site later today (www.aa1k.us).
This past week, with conditions very poor toward Europe for the most part, I
found while testing this out around 06-0700z several nights that signals on the
phased Beverages were down considerably -- what few signals were coming through
were generally better copy on the vertical array. Since I've had the 3 elements
working toward Europe for some time and hadn't observed this before, I'm
wondering if it was just peculiar propagation this week or if I've got a
Beverage problem (though I haven't been able to track any down so far).
Any observations appreciated direct to me -- I'll summarize for the reflector.
