A patent attorney once told me the correct interpretation of
the word "skilled" means someone who merely has ordinary competance
in the appropriate area.  It doesn't refer to highly skilled experts.

I am aware of numerous patents that I would say are obvious
to the real experts, but wouldn't be obvious to the rank and file
engineer.
