I am using a T antenna fed as a folded monopole (toploaded) with 4 elevated
radials. This has the advantage of being a good direct match to 50 ohm
coax. The models I have run show little difference between this antenna and
the Inverted U as far as gain ( the inverted U is a fraction of a db better
in the favored direction) and takeoff angle. If you have two tall trees (as
I do) or a tree and a tower why would you go to the added complexity of the
tuner and extra radials for the inverted U ?
