Hi, All,
I got up this morning at 4:30 AM (1130Z) in hopes of working a new one
(BQ9P), but alas, nothing on the band. I finally found BQ9P on 40m SSB
at 1315Z and asked him about 160. Randy said "in one hour". My sunrise
would be at 1328Z so I informed him, "that would be a bit too late for
the west coast".
I listened to him calling CQ on 40m SSB for another 30 minutes - well
past my sunrise - and in that time he worked only one station, so it
seems like his time could have been much better spent on 1.8 MHz. I'm
sure I wasn't the only west coast Topbander that got up early for him.
It makes you really appreciate the persistance of dedicated topband DX
operators such as EL2WW and others that are there when they say they'll
be there.
Well, maybe tomorrow.
73, de Earl, K6SE
