Not sure how much leverage we have on this since JA bands are a JA decision,
but they may consider our inputs. I'm not against change, but the present
system seems to be working well. I don't see any benefit of having a JA
segment at both 1.9 and 1.8 MHz regions - it would seem to cause more
confusion than improvement. Like HA1AG said, it would be better to expand
the present 1.9 segment. Having both 1.9 and 1.8 for JA might cause antenna
problems for them.
I also believe that SSB is a very low priority on 160 and especially in the
low 1.8 region. . If there were to be an SSB segment it should be in the 1.9
MHz region, probably next to the CW segment. The biggest improvement in the
system would be for JA to listen at the low end of 1.8 instead of the crowded
dx segment between 1820 and 1840. The low end of 160 is much less used than
the dx segment mentioned and most non JA stations have antennas that work at
the low end. 73 Bob W7LR in Montana.
