Just wondering what the thoughts are on using multi-wire cable for
ground radials.....leave them in the bundle or pull them out.....any
ideas or thoughts?
=========================
I unraveled 3 and 6 pair bundles of scrounged telephone inside wire to
use as radials for the 160M inverted "L" . When I tried to extract 150
foot radials (a twisted pair) from the bundle, it was inordinately time
consuming and tedious. Therefore, I won't waste the time to do that
again. I just measure off whatever I need for length and solder the
ends to make a "fatter" conductor. I solder together shorter pieces to
make longer lengths. But I don't unravel anymore! Life to too short
for QRP and over-doing cost saving techniques that didn't matter anyway
cuz the multipair wire was freebie. Bottom line: leave it in the bundle
solder the ends, scrounge more wire, and save lots of time.
