And who doesn't need BY/Zone 24 on Topband!
If I wasn't desperately tring to get all the funds together for my trip
I would help you out right now.
Regarding my trip with Nick VK9LX I just found out we will have to pay
extra for overweight baggage for flight to Lord Howe Island so I just
sold a Tower I had recently acquired and hoped to put up here at home(no
tower up yet,just a hunk of wire in tree) but needed the money for the
trip.
Nick (VK9LX/VK2ICV) and I have decided on having two rigs going outside
the contest. We particulary feel the need to be able to run 160 and 80
at the same time, we are also considering taking another Amp to go along
with the MLA2500 we are bringing.
This will cost even more,I'm not talking 20 bucks here either,more than
twenty times that.
A second amplfier may really not be needed - 160 has to have one but
other bands aren't so much of a problem, but I think having a signal
that is a little on the loud side will help keep the pile-ups under
control and get more people in the log during those short greyline
peaks.
Western Europe is a particulary hard path fron VK9LX, we will make sure
to QRX for EU during their Greyline times.... the G's will have it worse
than most with a beam heading of up to 340 degrees from VK9LX and a path
length of 10000 Miles.The East coast of the USA is 9500 Miles from LHI
but at a much less Northernly beam heading.South Africa will be very
tough as well.Several Big Gun ZS stations have told me things like "Have
320 countries on CW but need VK9L".So we will do our best.
We may be able to have Internet access,it would be nice to be able to
post Topband log summaries and other info daily before the contest.There
are so many things we would like to do but it all takes time and money.
