Yes, this works great but it has two problems.
  1.  It accelerates the deterioration of your radial system.
  2.  It will eventually kill your grass and trees.
I built my ground system using copper pipes.  I have probably 50 feet
of 1/2 inch copper pipe in the ground as a grid that is set right
under the feedpoint.  The radials connect to this and radiate, as radials
do, outward.
