Most antennas I've seen are a compromise. The auto tuner I use does a
pretty good job of
providing a 50Ω non-reactive load for the 50Ω coax. I use a balun that
gives 1:1, 4:1 or
1:4 from W2FMI to make the job for the tuner easier. Efficiency is
another question.
All that stuff is in a box now that my crankir has finally arrived, no
matching device of
