I once worked a Cuban station on CW who was using homebrew tube equipment.
He was drifting pretty bad (probably just turned his radio on) and he had
nice chirp. Over the period of about a half hour we drifted through two
other QSOs (as in "excuse me but we are coming through"). ;-) He was easy
to follow because of his nice sounding chirp... I still like the sound of a
little chirp.
On CW, my Scout used to do the same thing but it would abrutly jump back to
the frequency where I started after I turned it over to the other person.

Oh that’s a hoot!
Last fall, I had an old Drake TR-3 on the air. Those three 12JB6’s were
screaming, plopping out almost 200 watts into the antenna.
Long story short. I answered a guy’s CQ on 40 SSB. We exchanged the usual
stuff—told me he had a IC7800— and that I was drifting up at 12 cycles. I
asked him about his radio.
He told me it had dual receivers, pan adapters, USB interfaces and a 21 inch
monitor. I asked if that thing had RIT.
He said it did. There were in fact three RIT on each band along with dual
watch thingiees.
I ask him to turn it on, so he could follow me ‘round until this thing got
warm.
Kinda got po at me for asking him to do that. Maybe he thought it’s wear his
radio out?

I had a Flex owner tell me I was 13 hertz off frequency. I should have
asked him to help me convert that to cycles so I could adjust my radio.
