Sounds like you had either storm surge damage to a protective component
on the input, or a mechanical failure of that part. Was the rig
connected to an antenna during a storm at any past time?
If you unsolder the component that cracked, will the receiver work? Don't mess with IF until you get the front end checked. The device is likely not a MOV they are ceramic in epoxy usually. It may be back to back zener diodes for protection against static. What does it measure with an ohmmeter?
