Jim, does the KX3 have the dual key lines to mate with the 418 and enable
QSK?

The 418 keys an EN(able) line 4ms after it has been keyed.
This is how it will work full BK with the 539.
I don't know any QRP rigs which support this feature.

That perfectly describes the Elecraft KPA500. One is sitting on my operating
desk, and I love it. It's instant-on, with no filaments, thus much cheaper
to run than my Titans. It will do 600W in keydown modes, and it puts out
rated power on 6M, also keydown modes. It sells for $2K as a kit that any
one who isn't physically handicapped can put together in half a day. It
works with any decent rig -- no fancy control needed except PTT from the
transceiver (which is an FCC requirement).

So if that's what you want, there's no reason other than blind brand loyalty
to not buy it.

Likewise, I think KX3 owners would be well advised to give the new Ten Tec
amp a look.
