This will be shocker, but the Yaesu 857D, has been an easy rig to carry around from place to place - I've run it from car batteries and also power supplies. It covers from 160 to VHF, is so small, up to 100 watts, built in keyer, and the power output can be set to your heart's desire, etc., etc. Add a nice LDG tuner and it will all fit into a typical napsack or attaché case. For the "farm house" it could be hidden easily.
