The Hercules II is rated for about 500W output. Back in the 70's, FCC Rules defined ham power levels on the basis of Input Power, and both Hercules models (the original 444 and second generation 420) were rated for about 1kW Input CW power (70-80A at 13.8V for the Herc II). My Herc I puts out about 700W, but I don't run it above about 500W because replacement output devices are not available. Both are excellent amps, but a "Kilowatt" they are not. 73, Jim K9YC _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list TenTec@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/tentec |
