Here's something I just remembered...
Years ago I had a tri band Gem quad on a homebrew 36 ft wooden mast. I
strung it with Rat Shack stranded antenna wire, fed with coax and during the
dry summer when the wind came up, I would have to disconnect the quad
because wind generated static was strong enough to cause static discharges
between the grounded coax shield and it's center conductor.
My doublet, with copperclad single wire line never did exhibit that
tendency.
