Art,
I remember my VI+ had most of the gain in the first 90 degrees of
rotation (from 7 o'clock to 10 o'clock, with the latter being VERY loud.) I
think your headsets may be adding to the problem - might want to try another
pair to see if something else works for you. I don't remember having the
sensitivity issue you describe.
RIT/XIT is a single control - there is only one encoder behind
there!

Subject: [TenTec] Omvi VI AF Gain Control & RIT
Hi All,
On my Omni VI the AF gain is very sensitive, going from essentially no
output to more than I'd really like in a few degrees...with a sweet spot in
between I can hit with some effort. FYI, I am using amplified headphones
(Bose QC2). Is this typical, or do I perhaps have a bad pot?
Also, I don't find any difference in the functioning of the two concentric
RIT/XIT knobs. True? Or am I missing something?
Thanks,
Art, K0RO
