Most of the problems with D104 mike use have to do with impedance matching, and the fact that older radios were set up for high impedance mikes, (like the unamplified D104) and later in the 70's low impedance ham radios came into vogue. Overdrive of the preamplified D104 from CB days was another source of bad audio reports.
