I noticed this when switching to a Corsair (both I and II) from an Omni.
I always thought I just had more system gain, thus heard a louder no signal
noise.
With the Corsair I use a Timewave DSP-59+ and that cuts out that noise and
many other noises besides. But it does muddy up the sound just a bit.
A net gain IMHO.
