Back when I had my Omni VI+, I reported a "firmware" problem to TT regarding
the XIT. When XIT is engaged, the offset frequency on RX is 300 Hz off - or
perhaps it was the XIT which was 300 Hz off when in use, I forget the exact
details now. I don't recall how I discovered it, but they confirmed it was
a problem, and, supposedly, was not going to be fixed. I don't remember
having a RIT problem, but the XIT was pronounced.

Subject: Re: [TenTec] Omni VI tracking
I have had the same feeling with my 2 Omni 6's (one now traded on an
Orion).
I've contested seriously with these for over 10 years, and when I'm CQing,
I seem to always end up with RIT a bit minus. I thought it was just me!
All
of this on CW--never had this on SSB (a minor mode for me).
