Hum?  Processor?  OK, turn off the processor completely, those can 
really mess up the audio anyway.  Put on the non amplified mike, 
processor off.  Keep the drive control all the way down, turn it up 
until the little ALC light just barely lights on voice peaks (really!  
just barely lights when you shout!)  Then listen on the external 
receiver.  See if it improves at all.  Note any changes in how it 
sounds.  Hum on SSB peaks can be the power supply caps sagging when the 
draw goes up quickly.  Do you have another power supply to substitute?  
Do you have a car battery to substitute for the power supply for a 
temporary test?  That can be helpful.
