Usually you get these complaining engineers on a lot of the reflectors. If you
are not careful you get the idea that the product being discussed is no good. I
was on the reflector of the guy who provides updates for TenTec... W4PY or what
ever! And I thought Good grief there must be something wrong here because of
all the emails with problems. But, there are always a few who like it seems to
complain about something.
I am not an enginner and would be perfectly happy with a Triton IV <544>, a
Delta, and would be super happy to have a Jupiter.....I am not a contester but
if I need a state or a country I will work the station in contest. I never send
in a log sheet! I am a 3rd generation Chevrolet owner having had impala's
since 1961. I replace the tires. brakes and run them long time. At present I
have a 2003 Impala that gets 37mpg on the highway and way over 30 around town.
It is much cheaper than a Honda or Toyoto and people usually do not want to
steal a Impala!
Probably the complainers are in the minority. Before purchasing a Tentec
travel to the factory and put the radio you want through the paces. I usually
go by the factory once a year and I enjoy operating the orion or jupiter.

Subject: Re: [TenTec] Happy Orion owners (was question about updates)
In my daily reading of this list, I have noted quite a bit of contrast in
the opinions of Orion owners regarding their Orion radio. I can't help but
wonder if the ones who hate their Orion are those type of operators who must
constantly improve, troubleshoot, tinker and eventually improve the radio to
a point where it don't work good anymore. You know the type of operator I
am talking about. The one who will report, "when I put this control at "a"
and then put this other control at "b" and I press the PTT switch on my mike
at the same time I press my foot switch while turning knob a and have switch
"d" pressed ,while reversing modes yadayada, I get this funny howling sound
in my audio.
It is nice to hear some pleased owners. It is difficult from the posts to
determine if this dog wil hunt or not.
