I also bought the Heil noise canceling headphones and used them with my
Orions. The noise canceling is indeed a great feature, but I didn't like
wearing the headphones and returned to using the old headphones except when
I am operating in a noisy environment and need noise canceling. Then they
are worth their weight in Gold.

Why did I buy the Heil headphones? Because I thought my 33 year old
Sennheiser headphones were broken. The audio was scratchy. Unfortunately
the new Heil headphones arrived with the same problem. Then I upgraded the
firmware in my Orion and both headphones were repaired at the same time!

I should have tried the headphones on one of my other radios before I
ordered the Heil. I would not spend that much money again on headphones,
unless I could find a brand new Sennheiser HD-414 SL (like my old
headphones).

I have been using Heil's noise canceling headphones
that go for about $100. They work well are
comfortable to wear, and believe it or not the noise
canceling feature really works
