I am thinking of taking a Radio Shack knob with a 1/4 inch brass insert and
melting the knob to utilize the insert in the Corsair II bandswitch knob.
I will probably have to reheat the brass insert and slide the hot insert into
the Corsair II knob.
I will of have to get the insert just hot enough to slide in and not to hot
to deform the plastic of the Corsair II knob.
I am tired of replacing the cheap Ten Tec bandswitch knob.
Even with just enough pressure on the setscrew to hold it in place in time
they crack just from normal use.
Have any of you tried this or any other methods to improve the bad design of
this knob?
Seems Ten Tec dropped the ball on this one and never tried to improve on that
flaw.
The knob is fine it just needs an insert Ten Tec.
If you guys at Ten Tec still monitor the reflector maybe you can give this
some thought.
I mean how many knobs do you have considering they only last about two years
bfore they start to slip on the shaft.
Thanks,
Dan N4VET
